Project summary
It was a delight to be selected as the pool builder on 'Kuroi Yoroi,' a luxury new home project at the Isle of Capri. Designed by Reece Keil, the project is dark and moody, inspired by the black armour (kuroi yoroi) traditionally worn by Japanese samurais.
Extensive structural engineering was required to build the pool as a freestanding structure. Construction involved six screw piles, 1.5 tonnes of reinforcing steel and 20 cubic metres of concrete. Behind the scenes, a Hayward TriStar 10 Star Energy Rated Variable Speed Pump and salt chlorinator mean high efficiency and low maintenance.
The pool boasts a fully-tiled mosaic interior, while the coping and surrounds are constructed from honed concrete for a seamless transition. The pool design features two sets of steps, one tiled and the other honed concrete to match the pool surrounds. Tinted frameless glass panels and custom steel barrier enhance the mood and gravitas.
